Recently opened system preferences then Network and got another window saying Network preferences changed by another application. When I close this it just pops back up and won't let me into the Network area of system preferences so I can change anything. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, BW

You can find the information on apple discussion boards http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1730909&tstart=120 but its precis is below:

Before you get started: be sure the you knw all the network settings before moving any files as you may need to recreate this information......

Go to Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the following (suggest make copies to the desktop first if in doubt):

    com.apple.airport.preferences.plist
    NetworkInterfaces.plist
    preferences.plist
    com.apple.nat.plist

All these files will regenerate as necessary when the associated system features are accessed. If you're using Airport or Internet Sharing you'll have to reestablish the appropriate settings, because these will have been lost when the preferences files are removed.
