Hi, all. This has been puzzling me for a couple of weeks.
After a power outage, my computer--an iMac G5 running OSX 10.4, which WAS connected to a surge protector--seems to be having some trouble with MS Word for Mac. Since the outage, I have not been able to type in MS Word using my keyboard. If I copy and paste something (using the drop-down menu, not the keyboard shortcut), text will show up, but not when I use the keyboard to type. The cursor doesn't even move. All other MS Office programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Entourage) are experiencing no problems.
I tried to troubleshoot with the Microsoft Word for Mac people, but everything they had me try (deleting corrupted preference files, booting in safe mode, etc.) did not help. The problem even occurs when I create and log into a new user account. I even loaded MS Word for Mac 2008, thinking it was a problem with my old MS Word for Mac 2004, but still the problem occurs in the '08 program. I also checked the keyboard on my macbook laptop, where it seems to work fine.
Any idea as to what might be wrong or how I can fix it?
