I need help with my My MAC Pro 8 Core. The machine doesn't want to boot. The power button just kept on blinking. This problem happened before, what we did I didn't use it for a few days then it started to run normal again. I don't really know the problems are but this is what I've done to my MAC. It is now 4TB and It has 1 TB hard drive on each bay. I also recently updated all softwares as well. I don't know if I have software or hardware problems. I'm still using Tiger OS for this MAC. Really need help badly! Thanks

It might well be a hardware problem but the first thing would be to reset the PMU/SMC

    see this article

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964?viewlocale=en_US

Also it might be an idea to see if it would start up froma repair disk or the system disks, but if the button just isn't working you are not going to get anywhere even to do a reset, so the SMc unit may need replacing

Give me more info (exact details of what happens as you attempt to start the mac)

hi thanks for the post. When I try to turn it on it just blinks i can hear the drives running but i don't see anything from the monitor and the power button just blinks. It's like something wrong with the power supply or it doesn't want to boot to the OS.

I think the power unit may be blown, however you need to see if you can start it from another disk, can you get a CD in or out?
